The blind tee shot over gorse on this short par 4 needs to be positioned carefully with trees right & left and a fairway bunker short of the green. It is important to judge the distance of the drive as well as the accuracy. Flirt with the valley in front of this green and you may stay in it, it holds many a run up shot. The green slopes from left to right and unless you send in a lofted shot the green will be difficult to hold. In 2007 a new back tee was added making the hole longer and more of a left to right dogleg. The open area of semi-rough beyond the mature ash tree across to the fifth fairway was a bail out area but now new tree planting has removed this option.

This uphill hole often plays longer than it looks, with its fairway sloping from right to left the tee shot needs to be right half of the fairway to avoid the left hand rough. In Winter 2006 a new fairway bunker was added on the right, and the left hand bunker was remodelled into 2 smaller bunkers - this work places a premium on tee shot accuracy for the longer hitters. A blind second shot often hides the bunker short left of the green so any shot running onto the green needs to come from the right half of the fairway.

The sixth hole is the longest of the par threes, framed by trees and bushes, this beautiful but difficult long par 3 is constantly changing with the different seasons. It's not just its length that makes this hole a tough test, but also the bunkering, either side and just short of the putting surface. The severely sloping green means it is never over until the ball is in the hole. Never many conceded putts here.
